The 30-Day Move: A Week-by-Week Checklist for Stress-Free Relocation

Published June 2026  ·  5 min read

Moving is reliably stressful, but most of that stress is front-loaded into the final few days — because that's when most people finally start doing the things they should have handled weeks earlier. A month is actually enough time to execute a smooth move, if you use it systematically rather than in a last-minute sprint.

Week 1 — Days 30–23: Book, Purge, and Plan

Week 2 — Days 22–15: Pack What You Won't Miss

Box labeling tip: Write the destination room on all four sides of each box, not just the top. When boxes are stacked, side labels are what you can actually read.

Week 3 — Days 14–8: Pack Almost Everything

Week 4 — Days 7–1: The Final Push

The First Week in the New Home

The move is one day. The settling in takes longer. Both are part of the same process.
